Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Homoeopathic Management: A Comprehensive Review
Author Name : Dr Hemang H. Panchal, Dr. Jignesh Patel
ABSTRACT Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel habits, occurring in the absence of identifiable structural or biochemical abnormalities. The disorder exhibits significant geographic and gender-based variation, with a female predominance in Western populations and a higher prevalence among younger males in South Asian regions, including India. IBS is multifactorial in origin, with contributory roles played by genetic predisposition, altered gastrointestinal motility, visceral hypersensitivity, psychological stress, immune activation, post-infectious states, and dysbiosis of the gut microbiota.
