Kapha Dosha: Significance of its Aatma Roopas to balance Stamina for maintaining Health
Author Name : Dr Niketa Soni, Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Dr Dinesh Chandra Sharma
ABSTRACT
In Ayurveda doshas are known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each and every one of us has characterises of all three doshas in our physiology but one or two of the doshas usually show up more predominantly. Dosha are the underlying principles that govern the nature, transformation and structure of the physical universe. Each dosha is the specific combination of two of the five elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth). Among the three kapha dosha is composed of water and earth and governs the principle of cohesion or structure. It is the ‘glue’ that holds or binds our physiology together. It is our unique combination and percentage of each dosha; vata, pitta and kapha, that governs how we interact with the rest of the relative universe. Good health is the maintenance of one’s unique combination of doshas, balanced condition of agni, of the sapta dhatus, of the three waste system (urine, sweat and feces), as well as balance in mind, senses and consciousness. It is equally important to one’s well-being to have love, happiness and clarity in daily living. As a result, the purpose of this article is to explain the physiological features (Gunas) and cardinal symptoms (Aatmaroopas) of kapha Dosha.
