ABSTRACT Childhood undernutrition remains a major global health concern, particularly in developing countries, affecting physical growth, cognitive development, and immunity. In Ayurveda, the condition of undernutrition is described under the concept of Karshya, characterized by emaciation, poor appetite, weakness, and delayed developmental milestones. The age group of 1–6 years represents a crucial phase of rapid growth and development, during which inadequate nutrition can lead to long-term physical and psychological consequences. Classical Ayurvedic texts attribute Karshya primarily to Agnimandya (impaired digestive fire), improper dietary habits, recurrent illnesses, and faulty lifestyle practices.
