Knowledge, Attitude and Awareness among Dental Students towards National Cadet Corps

Background: The world’s Largest uniformed youth organization, National Cadet Corps headed by Ministry of Defense, Govt of India strives to be and is one of the nation’s finest cohesive factors, bringing together the youth from all around the country. It is necessary to provide and acquire a certain level of awareness and knowledge among students for a better future with united, secular, patriotic and disciplined citizens of the nation. This study mainly aims to interpret knowledge level and perception regarding National Cadet Corps among dental students aging between 18 and 25 years in Mamata Dental College.
Aim: To assess the knowledge, attitude, and awareness towards National Cadet Corps among undergraduate dental students.
Method: A cross sectional study was conducted among the undergraduate dental students (III, IV, House Surgeons) in Mamata Dental College & Hospital, Khammam, using a web-based tool called google forms, a semi-structural online questionnaire was designed and distributed to the students to get the responses. Descriptive statistics and Chi - Square test were calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics Software Version
Version: 29.0.0.0. A P – Value < 0.05 was used to evaluate statistical significance.
Result: A total of 250 students took part with females (72%) and males (28%). Age of participants ranges from 18 – 25 years. House Surgeon (36%) students have responded more followed by IV Years (34%) students and III Years (30%). Detailed results and interpretations with respect to Gender wise and Year of Study wise regarding their responses towards National Cadet Corps are explained below Table 3.
Conclusion: The study results suggest that the knowledge among students towards National Cadet Corps is adequate. Attitude influenced the inclination to join National Cadet Corps. The results suggest that students have sufficient knowledge about NCC and are aware of the benefits of joining NCC.
