What is Naya Theatre? It is a theatre company founded in 1959 by Habib Tanvir, a pioneer theatre actor, director and playwright. The word „naya‟ means new. Tanvir is one of the few people who tried to break through the hegemony of nineteenth century European literature and create our indigenous brand of theatre. There are certain characteristics that make it unique and thus stand out as a theatre company.
