Literature is the Mirror of Society through the work of Chaman Nahal

ABSTRACT

It has been widely acknowledged that Literature is the mirror of society. In the words of Prof. Thomas Huxley "Literature is the expression of the thoughts of society." It is the critical analysis of human minds which reflects and expresses the inner structure of mind before us. Literature is the mirror of society and it always presents it's social and psychological effect or its bad and good values of society. Its purpose is to making the society to realize its mistakes and to projects the good virtue in the society.

Right from the history it has its own importance that help us to realize and refine our moral and social responsibilities. It also helps to expand our imginarion. Chaman Nahal through his work tries to present the follies of society. His work truly mirrors an event of the community during partition and surviving of life around those days. He focuses on the main problem and societal engagement of before and after partition. Literature is an imitation of human action that Nahal glimpses a picture of what people think, say, and do in the society. His novels reflects the condition of society and it's misconceptions.
