Magical Realism: A Touch to Modern Odia Short Stories

ABSTRACT

Magical realism is a new trend in worldwide literature with the combination of magic and realism to give pleasure to the writer in different way in a state of dream world. Though this trend is ancient till it has been introduced in modern literature in a different form, such stories take the readers to travel in a state of imaginary world linked with spirits, ghosts and characters of imagination. The application of this new trend in literature and stories touches to the every phase of the present human life as well as to analyze the hidden instincts and their influence on the human beings and in the society. Moreover, the application of magical realism in writings makes the thoughts and idea of the writer expanded. Such stories are fortified with the characters of living, non-living, environment and imaginary characters. It is clearly known from the words of the new trend magical realism. Though these two words are contradictory to each other still they combindly can build a structure of a great home where all the characters on earth are well settled.
