ABSTRACT

Background: Mashi Kalpana is an Ayurvedic pharmaceutical preparation in which selected raw materials are thermally processed to obtain a black, carbonaceous product. Its identity depends on the source material and processing conditions.

Aim: To review the pharmaceutical principles, traditional applications, available research, and standardization needs of Mashi Kalpana.

Review approach: A focused narrative synthesis was undertaken using selected published reviews, original preparation studies, experimental pharmacology, a comparative clinical report, and international quality and safety guidance. No systematic search or pooled analysis was performed.
