ABSTRACT The traditional methods of voting, whether through paper ballots or electronic voting machines (EVMs), have long been subject to criticism due to various flaws and vulnerabilities. To address these issues, this study proposes the implementation of a digital voting system based on Iris recognition technology, coupled with Machine Learning algorithms. Iris recognition is a form of biometric identification that analyzes the unique patterns present in an individual's iris, the colored part of the eye surrounding the pupil. It is a highly accurate and reliable method of identification due to the distinctiveness, stability, and visibility of iris patterns, even from a distance. By utilizing this technology, the proposed system aims to overcome several shortcomings inherent in traditional voting processes. Firstly, the Iris recognition-based Voting System ensures the integrity of the voting process by preventing duplicate or fraudulent votes. Each voter's iris pattern serves as a unique identifier, allowing the system to detect and reject any attempts at multiple voting by the same individual. This significantly reduces the risk of electoral fraud and ensures a fair and transparent voting process. Moreover, the integration of Aadhar, a unique identification system used in India, with the voting system further enhances its efficiency and security. By linking Aadhar information with the iris pattern, the need for voters to carry separate voter IDs is eliminated.
