Moidam: The Burial Place of Ahom Royal Family

ABSTRACT The Ahom is an ethnic group from the Indian states of Assam. They are the admixed descendants of the Tai people who reached the Brahmaputra valley of Assam across the Patkai hill in 1228. This Tai people make history in Assam by ruling around six hundred years. Sukapha, the leader of the Tai group established Ahom culture by joining all local indigenous people of Assam until 1826. In Tai-Ahom culture, Sukapha carried lots of their own unique custom. Here he always ready to adopt our indigenous peoples believes. But some of their own customs never forget like marriage system 'chaklong', buried system etc. Here i am going to discuss about Ahom's buried customs which is still in Charaideo district of Assam.
