ABSTRACT (Moringa oleifera Lam, a member of the Moringaceae family, is a highly valued medicinal plant found throughout tropical and subtropical regions. Commonly referred to as the drumstick tree, Sajiwan, kelor, Murungai kaai, marango, mlonge, mulangay, saijhan, and sajna, this plant is renowned for its extensive medicinal applications and high nutritional content. Different parts of Moringa, including its leaves, roots, seeds, bark, fruit, flowers, and young pods, are rich in proteins, vitamins, beta-carotene, essential minerals, amino acids, and a variety of phenolic compounds, which contribute to its nutritional and therapeutic benefits. Moringa exhibits a wide array of biological effects, such as antitumor, antipyretic, antiepileptic, antiinflammatory, antiulcer, antispasmodic, diuretic, antihypertensive, cholesterol-lowering, antioxidant, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antibacterial, cardiac, and antifungal properties. These qualities make it widely used in traditional medicine to address numerous health issues. This review compiles existing scientific research on Moringa’s phytochemical composition, health benefits, and pharmacological effects across its various parts. Given its broad-spectrum benefits, additional studies and clinical trials are encouraged to verify and expand upon these findings.
