Nature as Muse and Metaphor: A Critical Exploration in Indian Poetry.
Author Name : Dr. Juhi Prakash
ABSTRACTThis article critically examines nature's pervasive and multifaceted role as both muse and metaphor in Indian poetry, presenting a thorough analysis of how natural imagery and symbolism have shaped poetic expression across various linguistic and cultural traditions. Drawing on the writings of both classical and modern Indian poets, including Rabindranath Tagore, A.K. Ramanujan, Nissim Ezekiel, and Arundhati Subramaniam, the research investigates how environment functions as an active participant and symbolic agent in poetic discourse rather than just a background. The study emphasizes the ways in which nature may be a source of inspiration, a medium for philosophical investigation, and a way to express difficult emotional and spiritual states.’
