ABSTRACT

Being   a cosmopolitan ideology,Islam has a civilizational character, and hence considers all the facets of the human society and provides facile solutions to the societal issues of the varied nature. Islam embraces all the aspects of human life in a society, and society always needs research for its good. Hence,in Islam, research has a vast scope, research is an inseparable part of Islamic epistemology,infact,research nourishes Islamiceducation. The most insistent message of the Qur’an which urges its adherents to think for themselves,to ponder on the universe and the succession of the days and nights, explicitly highlights the utility and importance of the researchin Islam.Islam is a universal ideologyIt possessguidance for all the times and hence research is pertinent to make Islamic teachings compatible for every age. In contemporary Muslim world, Taqlid (blind following),which is contributing much towards the stagnation of Islamic education has to replace with research. Researchexists from early days of Islam. In modern times, Islam needs intellectuals and scholars of high caliber who have critical and research attitude.Rich research in Islamic sciences is must to frame a positive image of Islam in the front of non-Muslims,an authentic research is the only possible mechanism to respond the queries posing by the orientalists to Islam. simultaneously it will clear all the misconceptions and misunderstandings about Islam.Furthermore, research is must to canvas Islamic teachings.Similarly to make the Muslim societies according to the real Islamic thought,research is must,as it will help in acquisition of fresh information of Islam. God-realization is a natural need of every human being,hence research is also a natural need of human beings.Human nature changes from time to time,so it demands new requirements accordingly, and needs an adept to the new situation.Islamic teachings represent the human interests. It establishes universal human values.Every sort of knowledge needs a proper and systematic research for its survival.Research makes knowledge useful for society.Islam recognizes both the spiritual and mundane needs of human beings,so research is must to gain these both ends. In this article i am going to throw light on the need andimportance of research in Islam and wishes to create a climate for research.
