Organisational Culture and Employee Performance: A Conceptual Framework for Enhancing Organisational Effectiveness

Author Name : Prof. B. Anitha

ABSTRACT Organisational culture is an important determinant of employee behaviour and organisational effectiveness. It comprises the shared values, beliefs, assumptions, norms, and practices that influence how employees understand their roles, interact with colleagues, respond to leadership, and contribute to organisational objectives. In an increasingly competitive business environment, organisations must create work environments that encourage employee commitment, motivation, collaboration, innovation, and accountability. The present article examines the relationship between organisational culture and employee performance through a review of established theoretical perspectives and relevant research literature. Drawing on Schein’s theory of organisational culture, Denison’s model of organisational effectiveness, the Competing Values Framework, and research on person–organisation fit, the article develops a conceptual framework explaining how organisational culture may influence employee performance.
