Phakka Roga: Ayurveda and Modern Perspectives

Author Name : Sandeep Kate, Sonal Shelke

ABSTRACT According to the Kashyap Samhita, one of the key subfields of Ayurveda is Kaumarbhritya. Kaumarbhritya treats illnesses in youngsters. Kaumarbhritya developed a number of ideas pertaining to children's physical and mental health. One of the prevalent illnesses that affect children is pakka roga. Phakka characterized this as a child's incapacity to walk even as they become older. The Phakka resembles a languid gait linked to impaired psychomotor changes and inadequate physical growth. There are three varieties of pakka roga: Vyadhija, Garbhaja, and Kshiraja. Phakka roga was caused by a dietary deficit and an obstruction in rasa vaha strotasa. Different therapeutic modalities for Phakka were reported by Ayurveda. Several ayurvedic perspectives on Phakka were offered in this article.
