ABSTRACT
Physical inactivity is emerging as a serious public health problem worldwide, especially among students in higher education institutions, where lifelong health and physical activity behaviours are developed. In this context, Physical Literacy has emerged as a holistic concept wherein through motivation, self-confidence, physical efficiency, knowledge and understanding, one is enabled to participate in regular physical activities throughout one's life. In India, initiatives such as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Khelo India emphasise on promoting physical education and sports, but research related to physical literacy in Indian higher education institutions is still limited and scattered.
