ABSTRACT

A robot is a machine that can move and do certain tasks. Robots are controlled by a computer program or electronic circuitry. They may be directly controlled by humans. They may be designed to look like humans, in which case their behaviour may suggest intelligence or thought but they do not have feelings.

This project aims at creating an automated robotic system using which, it is easily possible to take care of a plant whether it is getting ample amount of sunlight or not. The robot automatically senses the sunlight area and simply moves towards that place and stand in the sunlight region. The plant will automatically get the plenty amount of sun needed it to thrive. There is a feature that enhances the robot to come back to shade after a pretty interval of time.

For simplicity, we are testing the robotic system for a single plant per robot. The robot gives immediate response towards the vitamin D needy plant. Arduino codes and infrastructure is used for providing this robot the AI needed for this project. Arduino is used for modeling the system’s behavior under closed or open surroundings, like it able to dodge the obstacles in the indoors as well as able to control the pace in outdoor surroundings.

This project is able to dodge the obstacles which come up in the way. The obstacles can be a mop, mobile phone, tablet, keys, notebooks etc which are like scattered on the floor or on the table, depending where the robot is. It can roam with the plant buddy on its head all day until drained. The obstacle dodge process is done by using the OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE technique. Obstacle avoidance is important in autonomous vehicles to avoid damaging the environment or the robot itself. The robo buddy does this with the help of a ULTRASONIC sensor.

The project comprises of a recharging mechanism for the robot. There are dedicated solar panels for recharging the battery when the robot stands out in the sun having the plant buddy on its head.
