Author Name : Dr. Sangeeta Solanki, Dr. Umesh Shukla, Dr. Ashwini Sharma
ABSTRACT
Sweda-karaka (producing sweating), Sheetaghana (causing the body to become less cold), Gourvaghna (causing the body to become less heavy), and Sthambhaghna (removing stiffness) are the results of Swedana Karma. Among the Shad-upakarmas, Swedana is the Bahirparimarjana Chikitsa. Swedana is regarded as a type of treatment that can heal certain diseases or alleviate symptoms like Shula (pain) and Stambha (stiffness), which can appear as symptoms of many illnesses. Patra Pottali Sweda, which is used for Upastambhita Vyadhi avastha, is a heated bag of particular herbal leaves that induces sweating. In Kerala, Patra Pottali Sweda is also referred to as Ela Kizhi.
