Poverty in Jharkhand - Causes and Remedies

ABSTRACT Poverty is still 42.16% in the state of Jharkhand. Despite the mineral resources, poverty has not ended here. 60% of ST/SC people are poor in this state. The population of the state is 3, 29, 88,134 (Census, 2011), which is 15th in the country. There has been a decline of 13.29% in poverty in this state by the government schemes. Some appropriate persons are not getting the benefits of the government scheme due awareness of people. Poverty has increased due to displacement and lack of employment-oriented education. Even today, most of the people are dependent on agriculture. It is not possible to remove poverty without industrialization, as well as proper implementation of government schemes to be donehonestly in the right way, then poverty can be removed.
