Pressure Groups, Public Accountability, and Social Impact: A Study of the All Nyishi Students' Union.

ABSTRACT In a democratic country, pressure groups play an important role in influencing the government's decisions and policies. They help people by raising awareness about different issues and giving them a platform to express their opinions. Pressure groups in Northeast India share similar characteristics, yet they also have their unique aspects. Contrary to the common belief that pressure groups are short-lived, those in Northeast India seem to have a longer-lasting presence. These unions play an active role in shaping the social awareness of their communities.
