ABSTRACT The study investigates the prevalence of acute kidney injury (AKI) among acute gastroenteritis (AGE) patients in a tertiary care hospital. AKI is defined as a sudden decrease in kidney function, characterized by an abrupt increase in serum creatinine levels or a decline in urine output. The analysis, based on data from 200 participants with various demographic and clinical parameters, reveals that 56.5% of AGE patients exhibit AKI, emphasizing AGE as a potential risk factor for renal complications. Individuals aged 51-60 are particularly susceptible to AKI associated with AGE, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance in this age group. Gender disparities indicate a higher AKI incidence in males, warranting further investigation into gender-specific factors in risk assessment and management protocols for AKI in the context of AGE. AGE, characterized by inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, often presents with symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, muscle ache, and abdominal pain.
