Psychology of Nails: How the Condition and Design of Nails Reflect the Personality and Emotional State of A Person
Author Name : Anna Chuiun
ABSTRACT This article is about the relationship between the state and the design of nails with personal traits and the mood of a person, thus proving the significance of nails as a marker for psychological balance. The work sets out to show how onychophagia, color, shape and design choices for nails reflect inner feelings and socio-cultural matters. The study is relevant due to increasing interest in self-care psychology and particularly in mechanisms connecting aesthetic care with emotional wellness. The scientific novelty involved joining neuropsychological, cultural, and practical information (having taken into consideration historical periods such as Ancient Egypt or China) along with contemporary tendencies created via social networks). Eight sources comprising scientific articles, web publications, and cultural studies were used. Results from the survey showed that 58.1% of the people thinks onychophagia is a mental disorder and 65% faces it often. Though color choices and nail art as a way of showing oneself highlight their effect on feelings, the link between nail shape and personality traits has not got strict scientific proof.
