ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to provide further explanation of John Rawls' political theory, with particular focus on ideas like the original position, the veil of ignorance, and the difference principle. It will be made clear why Rawls has had such a significant impact on political philosophy by elucidating these ideas. This paper's explicit goal is to criticize his theory of justice, which is also referred to as "justice as fairness," for not doing enough to address gender inequalities in society, including the exploitation of women inside the family unit. This will lead to the presentation of a contradiction, demonstrating Rawls' ongoing incapacity to support his assertion that family values are essential to developing a sense of justice even though the concepts of justice do not apply to the family. Taking this into account, it will be argued that applying Rawls' theory of justice in a society that supports gender equality is unfair because it goes against feminist studies.
