“Recent Trends in Developments of Fast Dissolving Tablets using Superdisintegrants: An Overview”

ABSTRACT The most common medication delivery methods are immediate release oral dose forms, such as tablets and capsules, due to their compactness, simplicity of self-administration, and other features.This review article focus on the classification, ideal characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, selection and mechanism of action of superdisintegrants and various type of superdisintegrants which are being used in the formulation to provide the safer, effective drug delivery with patient's compliance. Fast dissolving tablets are solid unit dosage forms that dissolve or disintegrate quickly in the mouth without using water. These formulations are used to ensure patient compliance and safer, more effective drug delivery.
