Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Job Performance of Facilitators in Adult Literacy Centers in Anambra State

Author Name : Ezeh Chikwue Blessing, Prof. Helen Adebola

ABSTRACT

This paper examined the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance of facilitators in adult literacy centres in Anambra State. The study was guided by two research questions and one hypothesis which was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Correlation research design was employed for the study. Population of the study comprised all the 789 facilitators within the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Anambra State. The sample of the study consisted of 386 facilitators selected within the 10 LGAs. The samples were selected using the multi-stage sampling procedure. Two instruments: Job Description Index (JDI) and Job Performance Scale (JPS) were used for data collection. The reliability of the study was determined by a pilot test and the internal consistencies were 0.89 and 0.74 respectively. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product MomentCorrelation (Pearson r) to answer the research questions and to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance.  The findings of the study revealed among others that very few facilitators have good job satisfaction and majority of the facilitators have good job performances. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the management of adult literacy centers should ensure that not only few facilitators should be satisfied, but all the facilitators should be satisfied by motivating them.
