Research on Lie Detector Using Facial Analysis and Heartbeat Sensing

ABSTRACT

This paper describes a research paper based on lie detection using facial analysis and heart beat sensing. Detecting lies plays a vital role in many areas, such as airport security, police investigations, counter-terrorism, etc. One technique to detect lies is through the identification of facial micro-expressions, which are brief, involuntary expressions shown on the face of humans when they are trying to conceal or repress emotions. Manual measurement of micro-expressions is hard labor, time consuming, and inaccurate. Facial micro expressions, body language and analysis of speech are powerful tools of lie detection. Facial micro expression is an involuntary reaction that is impossible to fake. When a set of targeted question in line with the investigation are asked to the suspect, the liars experience stress which manifests itself as body language cues and verbal cues. The systems accuracy is improved by increasing the parameter with sensing constant heartbeat which makes the system more reliable.
