Review article on "Lipid nanoparticles in neurodegenerative disease treatment

ABSTRACT Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), represent a growing global health burden characterized by progressive neuronal loss and cognitive or motor dysfunction. Traditional therapeutic approaches are limited by poor drug solubility, rapid systemic clearance, and the formidable challenge posed by the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which restricts the delivery of therapeutic agents to the central nervous system (CNS). Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have emerged as a promising nanocarrier platform capable of overcoming these limitations due to their biocompatibility, capacity for encapsulating diverse bioactive molecules, and ability to traverse the BBB.
