Review on Cryostat: A Low Temperature Device

Author Name : Kishun Bir

ABSTRACT

Cryostat is an instrument or device used to maintain low cryogenic temperatures of samples or devices mounted inside of the cryostat. Low temperature is maintained within a cryostat by using various refrigeration methods, most commonly using cryogenic fluid bath such as liquid nitrogen, liquid helium etc. It is generally assembled into a vessel, similar in shape to a vacuum flask or Dewar (double-walled, with vacuum between the inner and outer jacket to minimize heat transfer from the environment) and in construction both are nearby equal. Here an attempt is made to offer a simple design. A simple dipstick type cryostat and own design electronic panel and associate controlling PCB board with temperature controller is used for our cryostat. The controller uses a proportional, integral and differential type of control is described.
