ABSTRACT The eyes are among the most vital sensory organs, as a major part of our perception depends on vision. Protecting eye health helps reduce the risk of various ocular disorders. The eye is often described as the window of the body. Diet (Aahara) plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of the eyes. Consumption of Viruddha Aahara (incompatible food combinations) may contribute to diminished vision or even blindness. Modern lifestyle-related disorders such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and computer vision syndrome can arise from poor dietary habits and unhealthy routines. Ayurveda provides extensive guidelines for preventing such conditions and promoting ocular health through Ritucharya, Sadvritta, and In Ayurveda, the eyes (Netra) are considered the sthan of Alochaka Pitta, which is sustained by Pachaka Pitta. Maintaining a proper balance of Pachaka Pitta is essential for keeping Alochaka Pitta healthy. For this, the diet should be light, easily digestible, and aligned with Ayurvedic dietary rules. The concept of a balanced and health-promoting diet is clearly described in the Charaka Samhita, where certain foods are recommended for regular consumption to preserve wellbeing. Since ancient Vedic times, food has been regarded as one of the fundamental pillars of life. Chakshushya Rasayana.
