Role of Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Advancing NEP 2020 Objectives: A Case Study of Haryana

ABSTRACT This study explores the pivotal role of the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in achieving the targets outlined in India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on Haryana state. Using data sourced from the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) and departmental presentations, the paper evaluates GER trends across gender, state, and social category lines. The paper also highlights Haryana’s performance in comparison with national benchmarks and recommends strategies to attain the NEP’s GER target of 50% by 2035.
