ABSTRACT The progress of a nation or society largely depends on its youth population. However, recent statistics indicate a shift, suggesting that the elderly population will soon surpass the number of children, with a significant rise in individuals reaching advanced old age. The global count of people aged 65 and above is expected to increase from approximately 524 million in 2010 to nearly 1.5 billion by 2050. Geriatrics, known in Ayurveda as Jarachikitsa, is the medical discipline focused on aging and age-related conditions. Rasayana therapy, which emphasizes rejuvenation, centers around enhancing nutrition and revitalizing the body and mind. In the context of growing health issues due to modern lifestyles, Rasayana can offer solutions by boosting immunity and promoting mental well-being. Aging (Jara) is considered a natural condition (SwabhavikaVyadhi) in Ayurvedaand Jara Chikitsa—one of the eight primary branches of Ayurveda—is specifically tailored to address geriatric needs. With around 75 million individuals over the age of 65 in India, the strategic use of Rasayana as a preventive measure can help delay the onset of age-related ailments. This paper explores the significance of Rasayana therapy in supporting geriatric health.
