Rural Livelihood Mission in Odisha, A Case Study of People's Participation
Author Name : Som Sarag Satapathy
ABSTRACT
The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAYNRLM) is a federally funded initiative that seeks to alleviate rural poverty by encouraging each rurally impoverished family to have several sources of income. By 2024–2025, the DAY-NRLM hopes to considerably improve the lives of all rural poor families. This is intended to be accomplished through widespread social mobilisation, including organising one woman from each rural poor household into Self Help Groups (SHGs), their training and capacity building, facilitating their micro-livelihoods plans, and allowing them to implement their livelihoods plans by gaining access to financial resources from their own institutions and banks.
With effect from April 1, 2013, the Swarn jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) programme was restructured and replaced by the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), which was established by the Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India. With effect from March 29, 2016, NRLM is now known as Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). This article focuses on the Mission's primary design elements, parts, implementation architecture, systems, strategies, and important procedures. The mission's developing outcomes in the many component areas, including social inclusion, institution development, financial inclusion, livelihoods promotion, entitlements and convergence, are also being evaluated.
