Schemes by the Government of Maharashtra for the upliftment of the self-help groups

ABSTRACT

India got its independence in 1947. The country got independence but was faced with a huge set of problems such as unemployment, poverty and illiteracy. To tackle such problems the concept of microfinance was developed. Self-help groups are one such way to make micro credit, micro loans and micro savings reach the corners of the poor India. SHGs are groups of people coming together voluntarily to save money by way of meetings. The central and the state government churns out various policies and schemes from time to time for the betterment of the SHGs.
