“Scope and Challenges in Forensic Nursing Practice”

ABSTRACT
A forensic nurse is a Registered or Advanced Practice nurse who has completed further education and training in this field. Forensic nurses provide specialized treatment for patients who are suffering from the acute and long-term health effects of trauma or violence, as well as those who have unmet evidential needs as a result of having been victimized or accused of victimization. Forensic nurses provide consultation and testimony in civil and criminal cases involving nursing practice, care provided, and findings views. Sexual assault, intimate partner violence, neglect, and other forms of deliberate injury require the care of a health professional who is educated to manage the trauma connected with the injustice that has been done to them. Forensic nurses also are a valuable asset within the fight against violence. Existing forensic services have been shown to be insufficient in dealing with the huge crimes against women and children. Given that nurses make up the largest group of healthcare practitioners on the planet, forensic nurse examiners provide a hitherto underappreciated resource in universal healthcare and are an ideal group to promote global healthcare and social justice considerations. The appointment of a forensic nursing science specialist will be a helpful resource in substantiating prosecutors' assertions or assisting in the exoneration of wrongly accused suspects. Their distinctive contributions improve coordination and cooperation, exchange medical/forensic expertise, improve the treatment of crime victims while supplementing forensic services, and function as a bridge between healthcare institutions and law enforcement authorities in applicable responsibilities. Wherever the science of forensic nursing is practiced, this new breed of health and justice professionals will deliver positive outcomes. The treatment of victims of gender-based crime will improve, as will the amount of successful prosecutions and therefore the assurance of the simplest specimen’s conspicuous recovery.
