Secure Configuration Management Using BlockchainValidated Commits
Author Name : Suket Gakhar, Aditya Dayal Tyagi
ABSTRACT Proper configuration management and secure maintenance for system integrity while ensuring consistent reliable operation are of increasing importance in modern distributed systems. Traditional configuration management methods usually focus on centralized systems that may allow malicious alteration of configurations, introduce human error into the system, or grant unauthorized access. This paper proposes a new approach to augmenting the security of configuration management using blockchain technology. Using blockchain-validated commits, every configuration change is recorded in an immutable ledger, which provides a transparent, tamperproof history of all alterations. This means that all configuration changes can be traced and audited and, therefore, cannot be done without authorization. In addition, the decentralized nature of blockchain helps to mitigate the problem of single points of failure and makes it more resilient to attacks. This configuration maintains integrity while providing a verifiable record of all the updates, thus enabling easy discovery of malicious activities
