ABSTRACT
This paper deals with the results of an experimental investigation of the split tensile strength of lightweight concrete by use of coconut shell as partially substitution of coarse aggregate with M25 concrete grade. The percentage of replacement of aggregate of coconut shell varies as 0%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%. Cylinder of 150mm diameter and 300mm length were tested for split tensile strength test. A significant improvement in the split tensile strength is observed due to substitution of coconut shell as a coarse aggregate.
Keywords: lightweight concrete, coconut shell, split.
