Structure Activity Relationship of New Antimicrobial Compounds

Author Name : Madhura Bhoir, Dr. Manisha Nangude, Prof. Chetana Mayekar, Bhuvaneshwari Bhoir, Gaurav Bhurkud

ABSTRACT Investigating structure-activity relationships, this study identifies critical chemical functionalities boosting antimicrobial efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Optimized lipophilicity, electronic properties, and steric factors improve potency and selectivity, paving the way for new antimicrobial agents. In order to design and optimise efficient antimicrobial drugs, it is essential to comprehend the complex relationship between chemical structures and their biological activities, which is made possible by abstract Structure-Activity Relationships (SAR) techniques. With an emphasis on β-lactam antibiotics, glycopeptides, and antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), this paper offers a thorough review of SAR uses in antimicrobial drug development.
