ABSTRACT Pudina leaf (Mentha arvensis) extract was used as a stabiliser and reducer in the unorthodox yet environmentally beneficial method used to create iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO). Iron oxide nanoparticle production was accomplished with success using the chemical routhe process. To maximise the synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles, varied volume ratios of iron chloride tetrahydrate to the extract were added, and the mixture was cooked in a microwave oven for varying hours. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and the ultraviolet-visible spectrometer (UV-Vis) were used to characterise the synthesised iron oxide nanoparticles.
