Studies on Water Quality of Song River near Gullarghati and Raiwala Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India
Author Name : Dr. Gopal Chhetri
ABSTRACT
Water resources are very important for Economic and Social development as well as it is equally important for environmental issues. It is unique gift of God for this universe. It is the basic requirement of life, but today our natural resources of water such as rivers, lakes and ponds and oceans are threatened by various factors like anthropogenic activities, climatic changes and global warming.
In present study the water quality of Song river is analyzed at two different sites near Gullarghati (site -1) and Raiwala (site-2) ,the study was carried out before , during and after rainy season (June, July, August and September of 2021). Water quality was analyzed with some physio-Chemical parameter such as pH, TDS, DO, Free Carbon dioxide, Phosphate ion, Chloride ion, Sulphate ions, Alkalinity etc. Data was analyzed which suggests Song river water was found alkaline during the study period, dissolve oxygen was minimum during rainy season, change in pH of water before and after rainy season was not very significant which shows buffer ability of river water, contaminations in site 2 is more than site 2, other physio-chemical parameter of river water at two different sites suggest very high deterioration due to very high anthropogenic activity between these two sites.
