ABSTRACT Severe low back pain that radiates to one or both lower limbs has become one of the most common health issues in modern society. In many industrialized nations, it has reached epidemic proportions, with estimates suggesting that the majority of people will experience some form of back-related pain during their lifetime. Radiating back pain is also a leading cause of lost workdays worldwide. Ayurveda has long recognized the seriousness of this condition, describing it as Gridhrasi Roga, which corresponds to Sciatica based on the symptoms. Classified under Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhi—disorders arising solely from the vitiation of Vata Dosha—it presents as PadaKramat Vedana (Radiating pain extending to legs), Toda (pricking pain and Pada suptata (Numbness).
