Study on the Antibacterial activity of Asparagus racemosus

ABSTRACT Asparagus racemosus also known as shatavari, belongs to family Liliaceae and has been proved to have a potential microbicidal effect. The methanol extract of root Asparagus racemosus has a great potential as antibacterial agent against tested pathogenic bacteria likeE.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Different solvents like methanol, chloroform, methanol dichloromethane mixture (1:1) were used to study the effect and methanol was proved to be a good solvent.
