ABSTRACT Ground water is considered as the preferred source of water for meeting domestic, industrial and agricultural requirements. Identification of potable groundwater quality sources that are sustainable for longer periods is a critical issue in the supply of drinking water to different habitations in the country. Groundwater availability and its quality are highly diverse in the Indian scenario due to varied geological and geo-environmental characteristics in different parts of the country. The aim of the present study was to identify and evaluate the ground water quality zones in parts of Kamakhyanagar block of Dhenkanal district. The study area is composed rocks of Eastern Ghat Granite gneissic suite, Alluvium deposits, Leptynite and Laterite.
