ABSTRACT Visually impaired people suffer daily due to their inability to read the texts in their surrounding vicinity like medicines, hoardings, books etc. and relying on braille seems inefficient and tedious. This research paper attempts to build a device which captures a image of the surrounding and processes the text detected into audio, which is delivered to the user through a speaker/earphone.Image capture is done using the system's camera, and text extraction is done using the OCR to assist in text recognition and speaking out through the headphone using TTS. Device is head-mount and portable since it is operated on a battery. Problems of mobility and connectivity in similar devices were tackled in this paper by utilizing a battery and localizing the data required to process the image on the raspberry pi controller
