The Application of Udana Vata and Sadhaka Pitta in Cognitive Functions and Emotions: A Conceptual Review
Author Name : Dr. Ekawankar Snehal R, Dr. Kodape D.T
ABSTRACT Cognitive functions and emotional stability are essential for learning, communication, motivation, and decision-making. Ayurveda explains these aspects through Udana Vata and Sadhaka Pitta, two functional subtypes of Vata and Pitta doshas. Udana Vata plays a crucial role in speech articulation, memory recall, cognitive clarity, and enthusiasm, while Sadhaka Pitta governs intellect, emotional processing, and self-esteem. Their proper functioning ensures effective communication, motivation, goal attainment, and emotional resilience. Imbalances can lead to speech impairments, lack of motivation, indecisiveness, and cognitive decline. This review highlights the practical applications of Udana Vata in speech therapy, cognitive training, and motivation enhancement, while Sadhaka Pitta's role is explored in decision-making strategies, emotional stability, and self-confidence building. Ayurvedic interventions such as Nasya therapy, Pranayama, Medhya Rasayana, and Shirodhara are discussed as effective approaches to optimize mental performance and emotional well-being.
