Author Name : Dr. Sangeeta Solanki , Dr. Umesh Shukla, Dr. Ashwini Sharma

ABSTRACT One of the five Ayurvedic Panchkarma procedures is Basti. According to Ayurvedic traditional text, Basti is the primary treatment in Shodhana and is regarded as one of the most significant treatments for a variety of illnesses. It is a technique for giving enemas via the anal, urinary, or vaginal routes using therapeutic Decoctions, oils, ghee, or milk. There are preventive and curative aspects to this therapeutic approach. Basti is said to as Ardha Chikitsha, or half of all world remedies combined, because it is the best at preserving both the quantity and quality of life. When it comes to the appearance of disorders that impact the Shakha, Kostha, and Marmgataroga, there is no cause stronger than Vata. Because it is the driving force for the removal or retention of Mala, Mutra, Pitta, and Kapha in their respective Ashaya, Vata is regarded as the primary controller of the body. The Basti is the only treatment available for reducing Vata. As a result, some Acharyas believe that half of the treatment is Basti. Basti Karmas are particularly helpful since they sustain health and longevity, strengthen the person, and calm the agitated Vata Dosha. A review of the Ayurvedic treatment process has been attempted.
