ABSTRACT The global transition from analog film projection to digital projection technologies has fundamentally reshaped not only cinematic industry practices but also the perceptual, psychological, and physiological experiences of audiences. This article synthesizes interdisciplinary research to examine how viewing conditions differ between analog film formats (35mm and 16mm), illuminated by tungsten or carbon arc light, and digital projection systems using xenon, LED, or RGB laser illumination.
