ABSTRACT Toni Morrison, known for her unrestrained urge for self-determination, shaped the present novel, The Bluest Eye, under study. The literary piece is set in Lorain, Ohio, which is known for its controlled and restricted view of life; Morrison used it as a background for her novel. Among the first three novels – The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Songs of Solomon- The Bluest Eye is highlighted as a poignant investigation of adolescence.
