The University Wits and Shakespeare's Dramatic Art

ABSTRACT

In the field of English drama Shakespeare's is the bulkiest figure. In this  research the researcher will make an attempt to find out the influence of the university wits on the dramatic art of William Shakespeare. The university wits influenced William Shakespeare to a great extent. All the members of the group of the University Wits had rare power  of dramatic art. The group includes Thomas Kyd, John Lyly, George Peele, Thomas Nashe, Thomas Lodge, Robert Greene, Christopher Marlowe. Among them Christopher Marlowe being the most striking figure influenced William Shakespeare with his ‘mighty line' i.e. Blank Verse.
