The Visionary Reformer: Understanding Raja Rammohan Roy’s Contributions and Their Modern-Day Significance

ABSTRACT Raja Rammohan Roy, often hailed as the “Father of Modern India,” was a visionary reformer whose contributions laid the foundation for social, religious, and educational transformations in colonial India. His relentless efforts to abolish sati, advocate for women's rights, promote rationalism, and establish modern education systems remain highly relevant in contemporary society. This study used a qualitative research approach, relying on reviewing related literature to understand Raja Rammohan Roy’s contributions and their modern-day significance. In this study,the necessary data collected from the secondary sources, such as scholarly articles, books, and research papers, to understand his reformist vision and to provide insights into the longterm impact of his ideas on Indian society.This paper explores his role in shaping progressive thought. Furthermore, it discusses the continued significance of his ideas in the 21st century, particularly in the context of social justice, secularism, and educational advancement.
