Touch downs and Data: a Study on Football Analytics and Strategy

ABSTRACT

In both research and practice, there has been a sharp increase in interest in team sports data analysis during the past few years. Soccer is one of the most popular and commercially significant team sports among the several team sport disciplines. Numerous various methods or approaches have been employed in sports analysis, including the connection of heat maps, player trajectories, patterns, and match animations. Analysis of a player's historical performance is frequently used to predict a player's performance in upcoming games. Either visualization or video analysis is used for the majority of sports analysis. Therefore, in order to cross this bridge, we have developed a method to combine both of these functions, which will aid sports club management in enhancing the performance. It includes video analysis as well as visualization techniques to analyze player performance, overall match and sentiments of people’s tweets to improve performance in future matches. On Dashboard one can see the player performance and overall statistics of all team players.

Pitch Analysis helps coaches to create strategies to match for better results by using visualization technique. Pose Detection is used to analyze from the different postures of players and their outcomes and improve the player performances. Twitter Sentiment Analysis is used to analyze fan behavior for a particular player and its polarity during a match and for upcoming events.
